Treatment with allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells may benefit nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

NEW ORLEANS — In patients with nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy treated with mesenchymal stem cells, use of allogeneic cells appears to be more effective than use of autologous cells, according to new data from the POSEIDON-DCM study.

Clinical Echocardiography and Other Imaging Techniques in Cardiomyopathies


This book describes the role of basic and advanced imaging techniques in the diagnosis of different types of cardiomyopathy, including dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and infiltrative/storage cardiomyopathies. While the main focus is on echocardiography, the applications of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography are also described.
